Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet is a play that has been acted, watched, and read by millions of people for hundreds of years. Throughout this play, Shakespeare develops the character of Juliet from a young naive girl that has a very unfocused and narrow view of what love really is, to a girl that has such an understanding of love that she is willing to give up her life to be with the person she loves. This point of the story shows how much people can change in such a short time, if the right circumstances come about in the right order of events, this is how Juliet changed so quickly. In act one of Romeo and Juliet, Juliet is portrayed as a girl that has a very small understanding of what love really is, this is illustrated when Lady Capulet inquires to Juliet about her views on marrying or becoming interested in Count Paris. Juliet replies with â€Å"It is an honour that I dream not of / I’ll look to like, if looking liking move: But no more deep will I endart mine eye. Than your consent gives strength to make it fly† (1.3.64-100). Here, Juliet is saying that honor is an honor but she does not want it. But she follows that with if you want me to be married I will.
